Un libro que como su titulo indica, fue concebido como un manual muy elemental para quienes van a iniciarse en el apasionante mundo del coleccionismo.
Escrita por Kate Rouse que es la actual conservadora de la coleccion del Royal Photographic Society’s Museum de Bath (Inglaterra), es ademas una consumada conferenciante y articulista de la especialidad.
Le pretendida sencillez del libro es quizas su principal virtud pues, en sinteticos textos, es capaz de exponer los conceptos fundamentales que deben guiar al todavia profano en la materia, ofreciendo algunos consejos y sugiriendo algunos enfoques basicos para evitar ese error que algunos hemos cometido al empezar que, confundiendo acumular con coleccionar, hemos incurrido en despilfarro economico y excesivo consumo de espacio disponible.
Por otra parte, ademas de ofrecer algunas pautas para datar e identificar las camaras por sus opticas, obturadores y otras caracteristicas visibles, divide el volumen en varios apartados atendiendo a una interesante clasificacion por tipo de camara.
Finalmente, me atrae especialmente que las piezas expuestas y sucintamente resenadas son todas valiosas pero a la vez posibles de encontrar en el mercado, huyendo de la exhibicion de tesoros museisticos inasequibles para un coleccionista normal.
En conclusion, un digno libro para todo aquel que este siendo seducido o incluso infectado por esta sana patologia que es coleccionar camaras fotograficas de un tiempo que ya nos dejo y que a pesar de estar ya descatalogado, todavia puede ser adquirido, nuevo o usado, a traves de Amazon o eBay.
